Their efforts to engage the community included a live interview with DentonRadio.com and the development of a social media event that was shared by both teens and residents. Another unique element of surprise included the engagement of celebrity judges that included Mayor Chris Watts, UNT Senior Lecturer Rodney Booth, and community volunteer Chrissy Mallouf. The exercise— named "Operation Mercury Rising" —will simulate a large scale disaster to test the response capabilities and emergency operations of first responders, hospitals, and other agencies.
