COVID-19-Weekly-Employee-Update_05_15_20 May 7 Virtual Employee Forum Q&A On Thursday, May 7, City Manager Todd Hileman, Human Resources Director Tiffany Thomson, and other members of the City of Denton leadership team held the City’s second virtual Employee Forum. If you were unable to attend, you can watch the Employee Forum here. As leadership provided an update on the City’s COVID-19 response, impacts on the City’s budget, and City facilities and programs, many of you provided feedback and submitted questions during the forum. Questions that were of broad impact or unable to be answered during the forum are available here. Getting to the HUB Did you know that you can access the HUB from outside the City’s internal network from any device? There are three different ways to get to the HUB externally: • From the main City website • Going directly to the HUB from any internet-connected device • Downloading the SharePoint App from Google Play or the App Store From the Main City Website: You can access the HUB from outside the City network by going to the City’s official website, www.cityofdenton.com, and scrolling all the way to the bottom footer. From here, click on “Employees.” Enter your email address and password and click “Sign In.” From the Internet Directly to the HUB: To directly access the HUB from outside the City network, type “hub.cityofdenton.com” into your browser navigation bar. When prompted, enter your email address and password and click “Sign In.” From the App: Using any mobile device, you can also download the SharePoint App from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Once downloaded to your device, open the app and enter your work email address and password. You will now be able to access the HUB. So there you go, three different ways to access the HUB outside the City’s internal network! Our Daily Bread City of Denton employees have been helping Our Daily Bread (ODB) fulfill its mission to feed and care for the homeless and at-risk in our community by providing kitchen support, as well as delivering and distributing meals. Volunteer shifts at ODB are available through the end of May. Volunteers are needed for Memorial Day, May 25 in particular. HR Training and Development As we continue to navigate the adjustment to increased remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic, HR offers resources, tools, and training opportunities for employees. Remote Work Resources HR put together a page of resources, tools, and training options to help employees, supervisors, and families navigate this “new normal” of remote work. “Leaders are Readers” Book Club HR partnered with our City Manager and Library to select influential books to read and discuss throughout the year. These discussions are taking place online via the my.workplace platform.
