DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for supervising, conducting, and planning structured activities for day camp including sports, arts and crafts, nature/outdoor, and other general activities for school age
children.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Supervises counselors and coordinates activities and special events for the camp. Will act as camp staff when needed for ratio purposes.
Maintains discipline and enforce proper safety precautions
Strong ability to lead others and complete tasks without direct or constant supervision
Must be able to properly supervise and respond immediately in case of emergency, including administering first aid as necessary
Assists in the control of equipment and supplies, maintains records as requested
Maintains & collects payments, attendance records, and behavior reports
Maintains child discipline at the site and discipline records while communicating effectively with parents/guardians
Administers medication and maintains medical records & logs
Enforces program rules and safety precautions
May be required to lift heavy items
Models and maintains high ethical standards
Must be able to safely drive a 15-passenger van and transport children to various locations daily
Ability to get along and communicate with customers and co-workers
Regular and punctual attendance
Maintain a clean and orderly environment for children
Additional Duties:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be 18 years or older
Must have at least 1-year experience working in a day camp or after school recreational setting with at least 3 months supervisory experience

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Must have a valid Class "C" Driver's License and valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class "C" driver's license and state
required minimum automobile liability insurance within 30 days of hire per state law) with reliable transportation to travel from site to site
Must pass a drug test, driver's license check, social security verification and criminal history background check
Must be able to obtain Adult & Youth CPR, AED and First Aid certification by May 15, 2021
Must be able to obtain Defensive Driving certificate by May 15, 2021
Must be able to work June 1 – August 6, 2021
Must be able to work Monday -Friday with shift varying within the 7am to 6pm hours
Must be available for various trainings during the time period of May 15-28
Must work citywide special event (July 4)
PREFERENCES:
Preference will be given to individuals who have experience supervising children and staff
Completion of one year of college
Previous experience working in a camp setting for at least two entire summer seasons
Six months of experience supervising full staff or 1 year supervising part-time staff
Six months of experience planning, coordinating, and implementing recreation programs for school age groups
Basic skills in performing and teaching day camp activities, sports, nature, and/or arts and crafts
Good problem-solving ability
Good leadership ability
Ability to direct and motivate staff
Ability to communicate effectively with parents, guardians, children and co-workers
Ability to maintain discipline
