Definition: The Recreation Leader is responsible for meeting the recreation and leisure needs of the citizens of Denton at the North Lakes Driving Range by providing customer service,
entering registrations, and selling driving range ball buckets and concessions.
Driving Range shifts will vary and could be anytime between 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., Monday through Sunday. This position may work up to 27 hours per week.
Essential Functions:
Answers telephone.
Greets customers at front desk with excellent customer service.
Registers participants for department’s programs in the CLASS registration system.
Sells driving range ball buckets and concession using the CLASS POS system.
Collects and verifies waivers for customers as required.
Performs cash handling duties and completes deposits.
Enforces center’s rules.
Picks up range balls and washes range balls.
Ensures facility is kept organized and that City property is kept secure.
Assists custodial staff with completion of cleaning duties.
Records hourly attendance in daily log book.
Completes administrative duties as assigned.
Counts inventory and follows all inventory policies and procedures.
May be called upon to work other areas under Athletics, including adult sports, youth sports, concessions, tennis, special events and tournaments.
Establishes and maintains cooperative and professional working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Maintains discipline on City property and enforces proper safety precautions, rendering first aid as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications / Acceptable Equivalency:
Must be 18 years of age or older.

Conditions of Employment:
Must have a valid Class “C” Driver’s License and valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class “C” driver’s license and state
required minimum automobile liability insurance within 30 days of hire per state law)
Must pass a drug test, driver’s license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check
Must complete a recognized CPR and First Aid training within 30 days of employment
Must complete City of Denton Food Handling Training within 30 days of employment (if working concessions)
Must complete City of Denton Cash Handling Training within 6 months of employment.
May be necessary to use personal transportation to run business errands
Must be able to work evenings and weekends
Preferences:
Experience working in a golf facility such as a driving range or golf course
Experience working in recreation or athletics
Computer experience utilizing Civic Rec 1, or a similar software program such as RecTrac
Computer experience in Microsoft Office
Bilingual in Spanish and English
Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing
Cash handling experience to include using a cash register, processing credit cards, reconciliation forms and deposit
3-6 months of college courses in recreation or sports management field
Experience in monitoring a facility
