Electric Project Planning Coordinator EP3806-600500 City of Denton Job Description Title: Electric Projects Planning Coordinator Position ID: EP3806-600500 Department/Division: Electric Engineering Reports to: Electric Engineering Supervisor FLSA Designation: Exempt Safety Sensitive: Yes DOT: No Definition: Responsible for developing and maintaining project construction schedules, reviewing projects and ensuring they are designed to specifications and can be built as designed, reviewing and verifying material lists, coordinating construction efforts in the field among various groups, updating construction status information and communicating project status to managers and supervisors. Essential Functions: Performs cost estimates, plans material needs, and follows up on progress of distribution/transmission projects from inception to completion. Evaluates and monitors departmental and interdepartmental accountability and productivity to meet customer and business operations requirements. Establishes quality control measures to track effectiveness and corrects gaps and/or compliance issues. Serves as the business liaison to Denton Municipal Electric (DME) executive team, other City of Denton departments, DME staff, customers, and other stakeholders Develops and implements business plans promoting completion of strategic plans and initiatives. Interfaces regularly with contractors, engineers, developers, customers, consultants, and Construction/Substation/Operations supervisors. Monitors contractor progress and performance to ensure goods and services conform to contract requirements to ensure compliance with project scope and budgets for all new projects assigned. Coordinates and communicates with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met. Develops, revises, and implements standard operating procedures for the section/division. Ensures compliance with DME Safety Rules and Regulations, Construction Standards, Design Criteria Manual, and Quality Management System. Determines goals, objectives, resource requirements, and budget for associated activities. Meets deadlines and quality expectations in a cost-effective manner by monitoring project budgets and tracking expenditures. Ensures personnel, and materials are available to meet work orders. Alerts supervision to any deviations from the approved cost projections. Aids in reviewing and updating policies and procedures of assigned area. Monitors any changes to construction or systems changes in the industry to ensure best practices are applied. Establishes and maintains a customer perspective for all services provided to in-house clients by providing updates, reports, presentations, and documentation. Develops project documentation proportional to the deliverables required in compliance with the LES work management requirements. This would include project charters, scope, justification, change plans, safety plans, communications plans, risk plans, resource plans, contingency plan, etc. Maintains regular and punctual attendance. Additional Duties: Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications / Acceptable Equivalency: High School Diploma or GED equivalent Ten (10) years of electric utility experience Completion of a four (4) year Lineman/Substation Tech Apprenticeship program that is recognized by the US Department of labor or the equivalent OR Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job Core Competencies: Knowledge of Transmission and Distribution operations, and evolving industry and regulatory developments Knowledge of Transmission and Distribution customer requirements.
