Definition: Under supervision of the Energy Market Manager, utilizes a broad knowledge of energy management technical and financial concepts, principles, and practices to perform a
variety of complex engineering and financial support functions.
Essential Job Functions:
As an individual contributor, under supervision, provides technical assistance to develop processes, standards and specifications for the energy management function
Performs analysis on the energy market, existing and potential energy contracts, bids, offers, energy sales, market trends, P&L reports, and other assigned projects
Assists in the development of technical reports and market analyses by performing research, gathering applicable and supporting data, performing complex data analysis, preparing reports,
and utilizing computer models for a variety of energy management reporting requirements from market valuation to complex financial products and specifications
Works with and assists others to complete occasional fieldwork regarding transmission and power plant construction and development time frames
Assists and learns from supervisor how to perform complex engineering and financial calculations and other documentation that fully supports all aspects of the energy management function
Develops and takes ownership for project management under the direction of various analysts
Works closely with Energy Market Operators to reconcile positions, report results, and provide insight of market conditions
Utilizes teamwork concepts and ability to get along cordially with co-workers
Assists with compiling and tracking records that document compliance with NERC, TRE, and ERCOT requirements
As an individual contributor, under supervision, performs repetitive and routine tasks accurately, such as updating reports, updating models, and reviewing market based reports, such
as PUCT, NPRR, etc.
Perform various administrative tasks as required or assigned

Minimum Qualifications / Acceptable Equivalency:
High school diploma or GED equivalent and three years of college or trade school credit in a related field plus five (5) years of related work experience in a utility
OR
Associates degree may substitute for experience up to two (2) years
OR
Bachelor’s degree, extensive course work, or extensive experience in an applicable engineering or strongly related technical field may be considered as equivalent for any of the above
requirements

Knowledge of energy buying and selling activities, associated risks, and energy management concepts
Knowledge of utility regulation and deregulation issues
Knowledge of Federal, State, Local laws, and ordinances governing fuel and energy markets
Knowledge of ERCOT market rules and regulations
Must be self-motivated, take ownership of job responsibilities, and be pro-active in seeking solutions for the department
Skill in using computers and related software applications
Skill in data analysis and problem solving
Skill in analyzing financial and statistical reports
Operation of the following equipment: Personal computer with Windows operating system, Microsoft Office (applications for word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations
), and Microsoft Outlook email system
Experience with electric utility operation
Electric utility construction knowledge
Strong computational and analytical background
Experience in preparing written reports and documents
Experience performing repetitive and redundant tasks
Knowledge of VBA
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Ability to form and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and customers
Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance
Conditions of Employment:
Must have a valid Class “C” Driver’s License prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class “C” driver’s license within 30 days of hire per state law)
Must pass a drug test, driver’s license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check
