Line Supervisor - ES4003 - ELECTRIC DISTRIBUTION City of Denton Job Description  Title: Line Supervisor Position ID: ES4003 Department/Division: Electric/Operations Reports to: Line Superintendent FLSA Designation: Exempt Safety Sensitive: Yes DOT: Yes Definition: Responsible for maintaining electric distribution system for the City of Denton Key Responsibilities: Oversees daily job duties of Operations Maintenance crews and Senior Lineman (Troubleman) Safely leads work team in the construction and maintenance of the electric transmission and distribution system Enforces departmental safety programs and instructs team members in proper work procedures Assists journeyman and apprentice lineman as needed Works with engineering on projects and job orders Confirms switching orders from system operations Works with trouble men and system operations to execute switching orders Programs capacitor controllers Keeps track of maintenance schedule for operations equipment Sets up line locates for pole installation and underground equipment to be replaced Completes redlines to GIS for changes to electric system Works with customers on electric issues and complaints Retrieves police reports on damage to electric system Troubleshoots the electric system and makes needed repairs in a cost-effective manner Reads blue prints for the jobs and turns in an “as built” when jobs are complete Requests supplies as needed Performs performance reviews and discipline procedures when needed Maintains reasonable telephone contact with departmental representatives at all hours as necessary Substitutes for the Electric Operations Line Superintendent as needed Maintains records as needed Portrays a positive image to employees, customers, developers, contractors and the general public Works with distribution customers, developers and contractors in an efficient manner Makes presentations at meetings Additional Duties: Assists Operations Line superintendent with the present or future budget when needed Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications / Acceptable Equivalency: High School Diploma or GED equivalent with ten years of electric utility experience to include at least 5 years as a journeyman Completion of a valid 4-year Lineman Apprenticeship program that is recognized by the Department of labor or the equivalent Must have a valid Class “C” Driver’s License prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class “C” driver’s license within 30 days of hire per state law) OR Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job Core Competencies: Demonstrates computer proficiency Demonstrates CPR, First Aid and the ability to apply all safety rules Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing Ability to get along with customers and co-workers Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance Ability to read, understand, and follow departmental safety rules and safe work procedures Ability to work courteously with other employees and customers Ability to lead others in job related matters Conditions of Employment: Must have a valid Class “A” CDL driver’s license within 60 days of employment Must pass a drug test, driver’s license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check Must be able to respond within 30 minutes of emergency calls and be able to take standby when name comes up on list.
