Definition: Responsible for the Construction of the electric distribution/transmission system for the City of Denton.
Essential Job Functions:
Plans, schedules, and monitors the work of technically skilled crews in the Construction of the City of Denton Electric Distribution System

Line Inspector/Service Coordinator
Plans, schedules and oversees three (3) separate contractors and the Contracts themselves
Contractor Coordinator
Underground Electric Service
Directional Boring
Dry Auger Boring
Oversees Electric Pole Yard & Logistics Management Operation
Logistics Supervisor
Materials Specialist
Maintenance Worker
Temporary Janitorial Service
Oversees the implementation and planning of annual budget for Electric Construction and General Ops Admin
Forecast personnel, equipment, material, and supply requirements in connection with development of the annual budget and CIP
Works with Engineering Service Manager, providing a five (5) year CIP Budget estimate annually
Coordinates projects, scheduling, and material requisitions with the Engineering Department and Purchasing Department utilizing bi-weekly construction meetings
Works with Purchasing and Engineering to write Bid Specs and RFPs for different contracts and evaluates proposals for awarding of contracts
Works with Fleet Superintendent in maintenance of 70+ pieces of equipment and writing specifications for replacement of vehicles
Maintains records for daily and monthly reports
Enforces the departments’ safety program
Instructs subordinates in specific work techniques to assure tasks are accomplished in a safe, efficient manner
Counsels subordinates, resolves informal complaints and grievances, and takes necessary disciplinary action in accordance with City policies
Maintains telephone contact with department representatives and responds to emergencies as necessary
Works with Line Supervisor, Contractor Coordinator, Developers, Contractors, Engineering Department and Logistics Supervisor to prioritize and assure project timelines are met
Handles customer complaints, including direct interface with customers
Makes presentations at meetings
Interviews prospective employees and makes final selections of employees; recommends promotions, demotions, and reclassifications; approves leaves and conducts performance appraisals
of subordinate employees
Coaches subordinates on technical and soft skills
Ability to get along with customers and co-workers

Minimum Qualifications:
Fifteen years of experience working in the electric transmission and distribution field with a minimum of seven years in a supervisory position
Certificate of completion of a DOL approved Journeyman Lineman Apprenticeship Program
Conditions of Employment:
Must have a valid Class “A” Driver’s License prior to employment
Must pass a drug test, driver’s license check, and criminal history check
Preferences:
Bilingual in Spanish and English
Proficient in the use of a computer
Experience in a municipal government electric utility department
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written
