Line Construction Supervisor-Construction Coordinator- E75108-600300 City of Denton Job Description Title: Line Construction Supervisor/Contractor Coordinator Position ID: E75108-600300 Department/Division: Electric Distribution Reports to: Distribution Line Superintendent FLSA Designation: Non-Exempt Safety Sensitive: Yes DOT: Yes Definition: Responsible for coordinating with the electric utility contractors under contract with The City of Denton. Essential Functions: Supervises the activities of 3 separate contractors and has some oversight of the Contracts themselves: Underground Electric Service, Directional Boring, and Dry Auger Boring Safely leads the contractors in the construction and maintenance of the electric transmission and distribution system Enforces departmental safety programs and instructs the contractors in proper work procedures Works with distribution customers, developers and contractors in an efficient manner Ability to make decisions, at a moment’s notice, with the City’s best interest in mind Reads blue prints for the jobs and turns in an “as built” when jobs are complete Keeps Line Superintendent informed of Contractor’s activity in a bi-weekly meeting Requests supplies and maintains records for contractors and City crews Receives invoices and processes them through the Inventory Control Specialist Reconciles invoices and materials lists before completion of projects by Contractors Evaluate Bids & Requests for Proposal, assisting with the awarding of contracts in accordance with the City of Denton’s best value criteria Substitutes for the Line Superintendent as needed Portrays a positive image to employees, customers, developers, contractors and the general public Performs other duties normally assigned to other work team members in their absence Maintains reasonable telephone contact with departmental representatives at all hours as necessary Troubleshoots the electric system and makes needed repairs in a cost-effective manner Assists crews and other departments when needed Demonstrates computer proficiency Makes presentations at meetings Ability to get along with customers and co-workers Demonstrates CPR, First Aid and the ability to apply all safety rules Maintains regular and punctual on-site attendance Additional Duties: Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications / Acceptable Equivalency: High School Diploma or GED equivalent Ten years of electric utility experience with at least 5 years as a journeyman Completion of a valid 4 year Lineman Apprenticeship program that is recognized by the Department of labor or the equivalent OR Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job Core Competencies: Ability to lead others in job related matters Ability to read, understand, and follow departmental safety rules and safe work procedures Ability to work courteously with other employees and customers Ability to work within enclosed spaces Preferences: Bilingual in Spanish and English Conditions of Employment: Must have and maintain a valid Class “C” Driver’s License and valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class “C” driver’s license and state required minimum automobile liability insurance within 90 days of hire per state law) Must pass a drug test, driver’s license check, criminal history background check and social security number verification Must pass a physical examination Must have a valid Class A CDL driver’s license within six (6) months of employment Physical Requirements: Overall Strength Demands: The bold and italicized word describes the overall strength demand of the functions performed by the incumbent during a typical workday.
