Definition: Responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining the instrumentation and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems for the Water Plants as well
as remote facilities; also responsible for maintaining system reliability for an inplant fiber optic system, VHF, microwave, and spread spectrum radio systems
Essential Functions:
Constructs major electronic systems from component parts, installs, views PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programs, troubleshoots, maintains and repairs major electronic systems
and peripheral devices per manufacturer’s specification in conjunction with Federal Communication Commission rules and regulations
Reads complex schematics, wiring diagrams and shop drawings for the purpose of installation, troubleshooting and repairing of major systems and minor subsystems and components; should
have some ability to troubleshoot motor starter circuits
Troubleshoots, installs, and calibrates various instruments, including ultrasonic level transmitters, transit time flow meters, Doppler flow meters, pressure transmitters, temperature
transmitters, differential pressure transmitters, various gas analyzers, turbidity analyzers, chlorine residual analyzers, dissolved oxygen transmitters, and sludge blanket level transmitters
Maintains telephone/radio/pager contact with operation and management personnel

Minimum Qualifications/Acceptable Equivalency:
High School diploma or GED equivalent and Electronic Trade School Certificate or Diploma
Eight years’ experience in maintaining or operation of electronic communications and control equipment
OR
Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job

Conditions of Employment:
Must have a valid Class “C” Driver’s License prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class “C” driver’s license within 30 days of hire per state law)
Must pass a drug test, driver’s license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check
Must be able to respond to afterhours emergencies within 30 minutes
Must pass a physical examination
Good physical dexterity; capable of working in all types of weather, digging, pulling wire, lifting heavy loads, standing and performing tedious work for extended periods of time
Must be able to work 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with overtime as required
Capable of responding to emergencies at all times
Preferences:
Completion of approved Department of Labor Apprenticeship program for Electronics
Prior experience with Fiber Optics, SCADA systems and licensed and unlicensed radio systems
