Definition: Responsible for interfacing with the customers and performing multiple tasks, with a high level of accuracy, in a fast-paced environment on behalf of the solid waste department.
Essential Functions:
Handles inbound and outbound transactions and dispatches requests to appropriate personnel as required
Generates and processes work orders, service notes on customer accounts
Generates and maintains production records and reports for Solid Waste
Maintains accurate production records
Initiates, reviews, and maintains confidential service agreements
Educates customers on the Solid Waste services provided, service levels, and fee structure(s)
Assists with specialized research projects
Maintains Solid Waste database
Prepares daily, monthly and quarterly reports as required by regulations
Processes departmental revenue checks
Maintains insufficient fund table, credit card authorizations and community service labor logs
Update/revise and maintain rate ordinance changes, materials and accounts
Prepares and updates training manual for operational procedures
Provides on-the-job training for new employees
Balances daily cash funds
Verifies accuracy of customer billing
Conduct field Audits
Provides testing for process improvements
Maintains regular and punctual on-site attendance

Minimum Qualifications / Acceptable Equivalency:
High School diploma or GED equivalent
Five (5) years’ experience in similar industry.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Ability to form and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and customers
Ability to operate efficiently when computer operating systems are down
Ability perform multiple tasks, with a high level of accuracy, in a fast paced environment
Ability to master of specialty software, such as Paradigm and Northstar, to provide support for Solid Waste services
Ability to perform a variety of responsibilities which are confidential or complex in nature, in a narrow area of specialization in order to facilitate the organization’s mission
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Preferences:
3 years’ experience in a call center
3 years’ experience in customer service experience in billing
3 years cash handling experience
Bilingual in both Spanish and English
Experience with Paradigm, Excel and Word applications
Conditions of Employment:
Must pass a drug test, criminal history background check, and social security number verification
May be required to complete a waste screening course within one year from hire date
Must be able to work a variety of work schedules including all hours of operation including nights, weekends and holidays
Must be able to work outside in all types of weather, this position is required to work in inclement weather
Must successfully complete cash handling and Red Flag training within six months of employment
