Definition: Responsible for the coordination of projects and issues between divisions in the water department as well as create and improve data collection systems.
Essential Functions:
Coordinate CIP projects between Water, Wastewater, Streets, Drainage, Bike Lanes, DME and Atmos.
Support Water Distribution by creating database driven metric tracking systems, training end users on technology, maintain a working knowledge of the state-of-affairs of all facets of
the distribution system at any given time. Provide research and data for any request at any time.
Provides reports, research, performs variety of administrative duties. research new technologies and participate in water interest groups. Communicate and prepare official documents
for groups such as city council, TCEQ, city management.
Coordinates with sustainability and Keep Denton Beautiful by updating the city webpage, proofing water related statements, public outreach such as develop sustainable schools curriculum,
and represent the department at careers on wheels, etc. Acts as departmental representative in city groups, such as communicators group, environmental group, and technology group.
Trains front-end technology users on how to use technical equipment, and capturing training in well written and edited PDFs. Trains administrative staff on technical aspects such as
how to trouble shoot, use mastery level functions of Microsoft Products, support level functions on CMS and AMS systems, basic functions of SQL and Access.
Maintains databases housing valuable asset information.
Provides research and clerical support on projects managed relate to software program implementation or special administrative projects that involve research, reporting, communicating
and instructing to internal staff.
Provides clerical support for budget management
Maintains regular and punctual on-site attendance.

Minimum Qualifications/Acceptable Equivalency:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field with analytical emphasis
Two years of experience in software code or database management
OR
Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job
Core Competencies:
Ability to decide the appropriate architecture for relational databases, managing their application in the Water and Wastewater utilities, and ensuring data integrity
Ability to work with vendors and Technology Services Department to troubleshoot software issues
Ability to explain technical issues associated with the software to users with little or no experience/knowledge
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Ability to form and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and customers
Preferences:
Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, or related field
Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Bilingual in Spanish and English
Prior Water Utilities experience
Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) like ESRI ArcMap
Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) like Azteca Cityworks
Conditions of Employment:
Must have a valid Class “C” Driver’s License and valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class “C” driver’s license and state
required minimum automobile liability insurance within 90 days of hire per state law)
Must pass a drug test, driver’s license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check
