Applications Architect I - TT3201 - TECH SVCS - APPLICATIONS DEV City of Denton Job Description  Title: Applications Architect I Position ID: TT3201 Department/Division: Technology Services/Application Development Reports to: Enterprise Applications Manager FLSA Designation: Exempt Safety Sensitive: No DOT: No Definition: Responsible for managing and maintaining City of Denton business-specific applications (Work order systems, permitting solutions, and data repositories), this includes the testing, scheduling, deployment, and support of application patches and upgrades. Essential Job Functions: Interfaces with desktop support to review, troubleshoot and work with Application II team members for problem resolution. Performs initial review and troubleshooting of user-submitted incidents and service requests. Manages license distribution and assignment polices/procedures for all applications. Reviews business process needs and application functionality to identify features that could improve user experience or process efficiencies. Participates in the identification of new application requirements, sourcing of applications to meet the requirements and managing demonstrations and vendor selection process.   Works with team Subject Matter Experts (SME) on a set of 3rd party applications supporting the entire lifecycle of the applications Collects requirements and performs analysis on 3rd party solutions for internal businesses Analyzes the current applications to identify features that provide opportunities for improvements Maintains applications based on vendor direction and business needs (patch application, major upgrades including staging, pre-testing, and deployment) Works as a liaison to 3rd party application vendors support team for issue recreation, management, escalation and drive to resolution. Provides excellent customer support, builds a relationship of trust and responsiveness. Participates in the evaluation and selection process for application packages Tracks and manages reviewing end-user requirements, security, performance, and interoperability requirements Creates statistical reports for information purposes Additional Duties: Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications/Acceptable Equivalency: High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent with ten years of experience in a computer science, business administration, or management information systems environment OR Technical Accreditation and eight years’ experience in a computer science, business administration, or management information systems environment OR Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business administration, or management information systems and six years equivalent experience in computer science, business administration, or management information systems environment Core Competencies: Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing Ability to form and maintain effective relationships with coworkers, internal customers, and vendors. Strong technical aptitude for learning new applications functionality, configuration, and maintenance processes Ability to understand the big picture of technical architectures and infrastructure Detailed understanding of performance analysis for proactive monitoring of application infrastructure and application health. Ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audience Ability to convert business/user needs into detailed requirements Knowledge of workflow development for business processes. Conditions of Employment: Must have a valid Class “C” Driver’s License and valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class “C” driver’s license and state required minimum automobile liability insurance within 30 days of hire per state law) Must pass a drug test, driver’s license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check Must meet the Civilian Hiring Standards of the Denton Police Department Preferences: Municipal government experience Proficiency in Microsoft Web Services Proficiency in MS SQL SERVER, Microsoft Cluster Services, Microsoft Windows Active Directory, and Visual Basic Proficiency in SharePoint, Backend Services, and Web design Net, JAVA, HTML, or other browser-based programming experience Application Testing experience Experience of Application Lifecycle Management Experience a plus with any or all of the following applications: TrakIT (permitting), ProjectDox (plan management), Cityworks/Cartegraph (work order), Laserfiche.
