Definition: Responsible for supporting audit staff in the completion of audit projects, including performing routine audits and assisting in the execution of performance audits. Responsible
for assisting the City Auditor in the prevention and detection of fraud, waste, and abuse.
Essential Functions:
Collects, analyzes and evaluates relevant information for routine audit projects in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards
Assists audit staff with the execution of audit steps in performance audit projects in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards
Documents information and conclusions in an organized and useful manner
Presents findings clearly to the City Auditor
Assists with department administrative duties
Maintains regular and punctual on-site attendance
Additional Duties:
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications / Acceptable Equivalency:
High School Diploma or related degree
Two years college coursework to include one year of coursework in Auditing, Accounting, Finance, Public Administration or a relevant field
OR
Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job

Ability to operate a personal computer including Microsoft Office applications
Ability to perform a variety of physical skills including, but not limited to observing, sorting, and calculating
Ability to complete assigned duties and functions in a timely and effective manner
Preferences:
Baccalaureate degree in Auditing, Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or a relevant field
Advanced degree (or enrolled in a graduate program) in Auditing, Accounting, Finance, Public Administration or a relevant field
Ability to perform audit steps under direct supervision
Conditions of Employment:
