Head Swim Coach - SA4002 - REC-LS-AQUATICS City of Denton Job Description Effective Date: 02/19/2002  Revision Date: 8/28/2017  Position ID: SA4002  Career Ladder: SA  FLSA Designation: Non-Exempt   Title: Head Swim Coach - Aquatics  Department/Division: Parks & Recreation  Reports to: Aquatic Recreation Center Manager    Description: Responsible for supervising, instructing and coaching all participants enrolled in the TAAF Swim Team Essential Functions Coaches a wide variety of age groups/skill levels Periodically submits written workouts to Aquatic Center Supervisor Maintains current team records including attendance, meet information, and parent contact lists Ensures the safety of all team members according to facility policies and procedures Coordinates all Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (T.A.A.F.) summer swim meet entries for Denton swim team members Represents City of Denton at all T.A.A.F. meetings related to swim team programs/competitions Assists with the hosting of all T.A.A.F. summer swim meets held in Denton Additional Duties: Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Must be at least 17 years or older Must have at least 2 seasons of swim coaching/teaching experience Effective competitive swimming skills CPR/AED/ First Aid Certification Core Competencies: Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing Ability to form and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and customers Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance Conditions of Employment Must pass a drug test, driver's license check, criminal history background check, and social security verification Must be able to work the entire season; morning and/or evening hours may be required Preferences Prior experience using the Colorado timing system USA Swimming Official’s Certification (current) Experience leading large groups in organized activities Experience as a collegiate swimmer/Official Experience using Meet Manager (software by Hy-Tech) Experience using Team Manager (software by Hy-Tech) American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification Physical Requirements: Overall Strength Demands: The italicized word describes the overall strength demand of the functions performed by the incumbent during a typical workday.
