School Crossing Guard Supv - SA3005 - POLICE - OPERATIONS City of Denton Job Description Effective Date: 10/27/2004  Revision Date: 10/27/2004  Position ID: SA3005  Market Band: SA03  FLSA Designation: Seasonal   Title: School Crossing Guard Supervisor  Department/Division: Police  Reports to: Special Enforcement Division Lieutenant    Description: Responsible for supervising all School Crossing Guards Essential Job Functions: Supervises all School Crossing Guards Assists elementary school children in crossing the street at designated intersections in a safe and orderly manner Places traffic cones in the street before school begins and removes at end of school as needed Notifies police headquarters of real or potential hazards and pedestrian accidents in the vicinity Regular and punctual attendance Additional Duties: Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications/Acceptable Equivalency: Basic knowledge of municipal traffic regulations Good physical condition and the ability to work outside in all kinds of weather Core Competencies: Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing Ability to form and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and customers Ability to establish friendly relations and maintain order among elementary school children Ability to read and write Ability and agility to respond quickly and calmly in emergencies Ability to be diplomatic and tactful, yet decisive and firm Conditions of Employment: Must pass a drug test, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check Must be able to work 7:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday – Friday from August to May Preferences: Bilingual in Spanish and English Physical Requirements: Overall Strength Demands: The italicized word describes the overall strength demand of the functions performed by the incumbent during a typical workday.
