RFP 7051 Vendor Questions and Coty of Denton Answers
1. As part of this bid for Fiber Optic Cable Installation Services, will procurement of the
fiber optic cable and associated installation materials (conduit, supplies) be included? Or
will the City supply the fiber optic cable and other materials? If we are to provide pricing
for materials, please provide cable part numbers and descriptions.
Yes the city will provide the Fiber and hardware.
See attachments for fiber specifications and part numbers.
2. Exhibit 3 - , procedure, item #1- before pulling or installing cable, test the cable question
- Are we to "test" the spool each time it is checked out from the warehouse, or will that
be done in-house? Spools are routinely checked out and returned the unused portion of
the spool. Which means the spool changes hands (contractor & warehouse) Spools have
been damaged a few times.
No we only test the cable once unless damage to the reel or fiber is noted. Damages in
the field will be the responsibility of the contractor. Miss Handling damages from the
warehouse will be the responsibility of the warehouse and a retest would be warrantied in
both cases.
3. Exhibit #2 - Terms and Conditions - B. #9, Place and Condition of work, As far as any
permits, fees, and right of entry or reports required, it is our understanding that City of
Denton provides all Rights of entry and attachment? Is that correct?
Yes we will provide permits and pay for said permits. We also will provide right of
entry to landowners land if need be.
4. Chain of Command, Please clarify exactly witch department or person that directs and
instructs us. It has been confusing in the past.
You work for the Communications department. Direction will be taken from the
Foreman, or from the Manager of the department. With that said if you are not
performing unsafely or outside the bounds of the ROW permit the building inspections
department may stop your work. Building inspections demands such as cleanup or sod
or erosion issues should come thru chain of command from your Foreman or Manager.
5. What is the Dollar value of this RFP throughout the 4 years, and where is it located in the
RFP? - In the past, a dollar amount was stated not to exceed.
The dollar value is not stated in the RFP and the City does not provide estimated
expenditures during the Bid process.
6. RFP, pg 3 of 19, #2. Commodity or Service Description. The term “as needed " leads to
uncertainty of the possible work/projects load. Please define.
“As needed” is based on the needs of the City of Denton.
Please acknowledge addendum on Attachment F of the
main solicitation document when submitting a proposal.
