SUBJECT
Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation,
authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract with Jagoe-Public Company, for the construction of the
McKinney Street Phase II project for the City of Denton with geographical limits as follows: From Loop
288 east to South Fork Road from 2 lanes to 4 lanes with continuous center turn lane; providing for the
expenditure of funds therefor; and providing an effective date (IFB 7154 - awarded to Jagoe-Public
Company, in the not-to-exceed amount of $10,471,821.75).
IFB INFORMATION /BACKGROUND
The McKinney Street Phase II project consists of the construction of a four-lane concrete roadway including
a continuous center turn lane, a storm drain system, mixed use path, sidewalks and relocation of water and
sewer lines. Standard City of Denton purchasing procedures were utilized.
The engineer’s opinion of probable construction cost (OPCC) for the project was $11.5 Million. The low
bidder for this project, Jagoe-Public Company, appears to meet all necessary requirements for qualification
on this project.
Invitation for Bids was sent to 281prospective suppliers of this item. In addition, specifications were placed
on the Materials Management website for prospective suppliers to download and advertised in the local
newspaper. Four (4) bids meeting specification were received. The lowest bid was received by Jagoe-Public
Company.
