Exhibit 1 - Agenda Information SheetCity of Denton _____________________________________________________________________________________ AGENDA INFORMATION SHEET DEPARTMENT: Procurement & Compliance CFO: Antonio Puente, Jr. DATE: June 16, 2020 SUBJECT Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation, authorizing the City Manager, or his designee, to execute a contract with Holt Caterpillar Inc. through the Sourcewell Cooperative Purchasing Contract Number 032119, for the acquisition of one (1) New Caterpillar model D6XE Track Type Dozer for the Solid Waste/Landfill Department; authorizing the expenditure of funds therefor; and declaring an effective date (File 7376 – awarded to Holt Caterpillar Inc., in the not-to-exceed amount of $469,401.38). The Public Utilities Board recommends approval (6 - 0). INFORMATION /BACKGROUND This request is for a planned fleet replacement consisting of one (1) New D6XE Dozer for the Solid Waste Landfill Department. The D6 Dozer will be used for ground work and general maintenance around the landfill. This new Dozer will replace the current 2014 Komatsu D65EX dozer which has accumulated over 8,144 operating hours, more than $292,500 in maintenance costs and has a total of 16.7 replacement points on a 15- point scale (9.2 maintenance). This machine has reached the end of its useful life for the City in terms of efficiency, reliability and cost effectiveness and will be auctioned when replaced. The primary use for the new dozer will be to push daily, intermediate and final cover over the working face. The dozer will be used to construct internal roads for truck and equipment traffic, take care of soil stockpiles, erosion control by spreading woodchips on internal and external slopes, cleaning and maintenance of the internal storm water ditches and ponds and many other small projects. These duties help maintain compliance with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality 1590A Permit. The XE hybrid electric dozer greatly simplifies operation by only having two transmission gear selections, forward and reverse. This equates to ease of operation, less operator training, and optimized power and efficiency based on load. The XE electric drive makes load decisions for the operators and allows for faster cycle times and productivity. Fleet services checked comparable model dozers in this weight and horsepower class. Caterpillar is the only manufacturer of a hybrid (electric) drive dozer, claiming 35% more fuel efficiency and a 12% savings on maintenance costs and as much as a 50% increase in productivity. Standard City of Denton purchasing procedures were utilized. Pricing through the Sourcewell Cooperative Purchasing Network has been competitively bid and meets the statutory requirements of Texas Local Government Code 271.102. City Hall 215 E.
