Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation,
authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract with Denton County Termite, Inc., for pest control
services for the exterior and interior of various City buildings and locations; providing for the expenditure of
funds therefor; and providing an effective date (RFP 7231 – awarded to Denton County Termite, Inc., for
one (1) year, with the option for four (4) additional one (1) year extensions, in the total five (5) year not-to-
exceed amount of $190,000).
INFORMATION/BACKGROUND
This bid is for pest control services for various City buildings. This contract is to assist with the City’s
pest control needs across 90+ locations. The approximate square footage for the buildings is 1,200,000
square feet. The pest control services will be performed monthly, quarterly, and when requested on an as-
needed basis.
The contract will be shared within the City for other departments to use on a schedule or an as-needed
basis. Facilities Management projects have a spending average of $25,000 annually. This will cover routine
preventative pest control, as well as service calls when they arise.
Requests for Proposals was sent to 237 prospective suppliers of this item. In addition, specifications were
placed on the Materials Management website for prospective suppliers to download and advertised in the
local newspaper. Three (3) proposals were received and evaluated based upon published criteria including
delivery and project schedule, compliance with specifications, probable performance, and price. Based upon
this evaluation, Denton County Termite, Inc. was ranked the highest and determined to be the best value
for the City.

These services will be funded from the Building and Equipment account 880200.6512. Requisitions will be
entered into the Purchasing software system on an as-needed basis. The budgeted amount for these services
is $190,000.
