SUBJECT
Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, Texas, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation,
authorizing the City Manager to execute a Professional Services Agreement with Dannenbaum Engineering
Company – Dallas, LLC, for design services as set forth in the agreement; providing for the expenditure of
funds therefor; and providing an effective date (RFQ 6590-007- Professional Services Agreement for design
services awarded to Dannenbaum Engineering Company – Dallas, LLC, in the not-to-exceed amount of
$183,839.97).
RFQ INFORMATION
The Fiscal Year (FY) 2018 Sidewalk improvement project was a part of the 2014 General Bond Election
and is in the City’s Capital Improvement Program. For this project, eighteen (18) sidewalk segments were
chosen around the city. School areas, including universities, were chosen as the second highest priority for
identifying new sidewalk projects, second only to ADA required projects. Other priorities that factored
into the list include pedestrian safety, high pedestrian activity centers (parks, recreation centers, shopping
centers, employment centers, etc.), visible footpaths along streets, and “missing links” or gaps in the
existing sidewalk infrastructure.
Request for Qualifications for professional engineering services were solicited using the City’s formal
solicitation process. City Council approved a pre-qualified list of engineering firms on March 6, 2018
(Ordinance 2018-331).
Dannenbaum Engineering Company – Dallas, LLC, is one of the qualified firms that submitted for the
Design of Roadways, Intersections and Bridges and has been selected for the FY 2018 Sidewalk
improvement project. Typical services will include the creation of construction plans for the sidewalk
improvements at the eighteen (18) locations along with bid and construction phase support. Other services
included are design survey and subsurface utility engineering services.

On March 6, 2018, Council approved RFQ 6590 for a prequalified list of professional engineering firms
(Ordinance 2018-331).

These services will be funded from Traffic account 360161467. Requisition#138390 has been entered into
the Purchasing software system in the amount of $183,839.97.
