SUBJECT
Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation,
authorizing the City Manager to execute an Agricultural Lease Agreement with Webster & Son, LTD, for
the cutting, baling, and prompt removal of hay from leased agricultural portions of the Airport; and
providing an effective date (RFP 7408 – awarded to Webster & Son, LTD, for three (3) years, with the
option for two (2) additional one (1) year extensions, in the total five (5) year term).
INFORMATION /BACKGROUND
Denton Enterprise Airport has approximately 222 acres, which is a surplus to Airport needs, for agricultural
purposes. The contract is for the cutting, baling, and prompt removal of hay from leased agricultural
portions of the airport. The contract requires the lessee to alert airport staff to potential erosion areas on the
leased premises and the areas that are to be mowed. The land leased will be used solely for cultivation of
seasonal crops.
Requests for Proposals was sent to 93 prospective suppliers of this item. In addition, specifications were
placed on the Materials Management website for prospective suppliers to download and advertised in the
local newspaper. One (1) proposal was received and evaluated based upon published criteria including
compliance with specifications, probable performance and price. Based upon this evaluation, Webster &
Son, LTD was ranked the highest and determined to be the best value for the City.

RECOMMENDATION
Award a contract with Webster & Son, LTD, for an Agricultural Lease Agreement for the cutting, baling,
and prompt removal of hay from leased agricultural portions of the Airport, in a three (3) year, with the
option for two (2) additional one (1) year extensions, in the total five (5) year term.

ESTIMATED SCHEDULE OF PROJECT
This is an initial three (3) year contract with options to extend the contract for two (2) additional one (1)
