Exhibit 1 - Agenda Information SheetCity of Denton _____________________________________________________________________________________ AGENDA INFORMATION SHEET DEPARTMENT: Procurement & Compliance ACM: David Gaines DATE: December 1, 2020 SUBJECT Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation, authorizing the City Manager, or his designee, to execute a contract with August Industries, Inc., through the Buy Board Cooperative Purchasing Network Contract # 603-20, for the purchase of Bauer Air Compressor Systems, maintenance, and testing of all current and future systems for the Fire Department; providing for the expenditure of funds therefor; and providing an effective date (File 7514 – awarded to August Industries, Inc., in the three (3) year not-to-exceed amount of $150,000). INFORMATION/BACKGROUND The Denton Fire Department currently uses air cascade systems to fill, purify, and compress Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) cylinders. August Industries is the distributor of the Bauer Air Compressor systems which is used in all existing seven (7) Denton Fire Department Stations. The proposed contract includes the purchase a system for Station 8, which is currently under construction. In addition to equipment, August Industries performs maintenance and testing required by NFPA 1981 Standards on Open-Circuit Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) for Emergency Services and NFPA 1989 Standards on breathing Air Quality for Emergency Services Respiratory Protection. Pricing obtained through the Buy Board Cooperative Purchasing Network has been competitively bid and meets the statutory requirements of Texas Local Government Code 271.102. PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS) On February 1, 2005, Council approved the interlocal agreement with the Buy Board Cooperative Purchasing Network (Ordinance 2005-034). RECOMMENDATION Award a contract with August Industries, Inc., for the purchase of Bauer Air Compressor Systems, maintenance, and testing of all current and future systems for the Fire Department; in a three (3) year not- to-exceed amount of $150,000. FISCAL INFORMATION The air cascade system for Station 8 will be funded from Certificate of Obligation Funds dedicated for City Facilities. All system maintenance and testing services will be funded from the Fire Department General Fund Operating Budget.
