SUBJECT
Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation,
authorizing the City Manager, or their designee, to execute a contract with EZ Dock of Texas, L.P., through
the Buy Board Cooperative Purchasing Network Contract # 592-19, for the replacement of the South Lakes
Fishing Dock for the Parks and Recreation Department; providing for the expenditure of funds therefor;
and providing an effective date (File 7663 – awarded to EZ Dock of Texas, L.P., in the not-to-exceed
amount of $69,544.40).
INFORMATION/BACKGROUND
The Parks and Recreation Department is seeking replacement of the fishing dock located at South Lakes
Park due to the structure age and physical condition. The current structure, originally constructed in 1996,
is comprised of treated lumber that has deteriorated due to UV sunlight, heavy usage, and its proximity to
water.
The Parks and Recreation Department has selected a dock that will better resist outdoor conditions and
provide a better fishing experience for park users. The vendor, EZ Dock of Texas, L.P., will provide a
structure primarily comprised of plastic and galvanized steel, ensuring that the replacement dock will outlast
its predecessor and require less maintenance. The replacement of this structure will also benefit users by
adding more space for fishing. The current structure has 40 linear feet of waterfront fishable area; however,
the proposed replacement will increase the fishable areas by 225% with over 90 linear feet of waterfront
fishable area.
Pricing obtained through the Buy Board Cooperative Purchasing Network has been competitively bid and
meets the statutory requirements of Texas Local Government Code 271.102.
PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)
On February 1, 2005, Council approved the interlocal agreement with the Buy Board Cooperative
Purchasing Network (Ordinance 2005-034).
RECOMMENDATION
Award a contract with EZ Dock of Texas, L.P., for the replacement of the South Lakes Fishing Dock for
the Parks and Recreation Department, in a not-to-exceed amount of $69,544.40.

SUSTAINABILITY MEASURES
EZ Docks are safe for any environment. EZ Dock is the only dock permitted in sensitive environments like
Adventure Aquarium - home to over 1,000 fish, rays, and sea turtles and The Nature Conservancy on the

ESTIMATED SCHEDULE OF PROJECT
This project will be started upon approval with a completion date by the end of August 2021.
This Buy Board contract expires September 30, 2022.
