SUBJECT
Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation,
authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract with Wilson Office Interiors, LLC, which is an
authorized dealer for Allsteel through the Omnia Partners Contract Number R191802, for the acquisition
and installation of office furniture and furnishings for the Police Headquarters Renovation, Indoor Firing
Range, and Substation through an online marketplace; providing for the expenditure of funds therefor; and
providing an effective date (File 7941 – awarded to Wilson Office Interiors, LLC, in the not-to-exceed
amount of $2,500,000.00).
INFORMATION/BACKGROUND
The proposed contract will provide furniture for the Police headquarters renovation, indoor firing range,
and substation projects. Funding for this item is available in the 2019 Bond Program.
On May 21, 2019, City Council approved a five (5) year contract with Staples, Inc., for the acquisition of
office furniture. On November 21, 2021, the City of Denton was notified of the dissolution of the furniture
department for Staples, Inc. which has negatively impacted the Police Department’s ability to move forward
with acquiring office furniture and furnishing for its facilities. As of date, the department has previously
selected office furniture and furnishes from the manufacturer, Allsteel. To maintain project continuity with
the previous procurement of office furniture from Allsteel for the Public Safety Communication Renovation
Project. Wilson Office Interiors LLC is a regional company that provides the same furniture selected
initially through Staples and with the original manufacturer, Allsteel. Wilson Office Interiors, LLC,
provided the overall best value to the City.
In the 2019 Bond program, the line-item amount for furnishing, fixtures & equipment, and
teledata/security/audiovisual was $6,336,605.
Pricing obtained through the Omnia Partners Cooperative Purchasing Network has been competitively bid
and meets the statutory requirements of Texas Local Government Code 271.102.

On September 14, 2021, Council approved the interlocal agreement with Omnia Partners (Ordinance 21-
1842).
RECOMMENDATION
Award a contract with Wilson Office Interiors LLC, for the purchase of office furniture and related services
for the Police Headquarters Renovation, Indoor Firing Range and Substation, in a not-to-exceed amount of
$2,500,000.

SUSTAINABILITY MEASURES
Allsteel Furniture Inc. has taken many steps as a manufacturer to create durable furniture while reducing
environmental impacts. The manufacturing process uses renewable energy, reduces, and recycles
manufacturing waste, produces low indoor air emissions products, ships products in recyclable or reusable
packaging, and using EPA Smartways or rail shipping partners lowers emissions associated with
transporting materials to end-users.

FISCAL INFORMATION
The costs will be funded through General Obligation Bonds.
