AGENDA INFORMATION SHEET
DEPARTMENT: Procurement
DCM: David Gaines
DATE: June 28, 2022
SUBJECT
Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation,
rejecting any and all competitive bids under IFB 7989 for the Supply of Fiber Optic Cable; and providing
an effective date (IFB 7989).
INFORMATION/BACKGROUND
An IFB was issued for the Supply of Fiber Optic Cable, only listing two (2) line items. The bids submitted
did not meet the specifications. The deficiencies in items detailed and the fiber submissions did not comply
with the scope of work. The most common mistakes were the diameter, cable construction, cable strength,
cable reel length, number of jackets, and the omission of space potential numbers. A review showed none
of the submissions provided all of the requested specifications. A rejection of the IFB is requested and
issuance of a new bid with more details on the scope of work and specification sheet, and not allowing
substitutes and/or alternatives.
