AGENDA INFORMATION SHEET
DEPARTMENT: Procurement
DCM: David Gaines
DATE: July 19, 2022
SUBJECT
Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation,
authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract with Technology Assets, LLC, dba Global Asset,
through the Buy Board Cooperative Purchasing Network Contract # 661-22, for the service of asset
recovery and recycling for retired technology assets for the City of Denton; providing for the expenditure
of funds therefor; and providing an effective date (File 8017 – awarded to Technology Assets, LLC, dba
Global Asset, in the three (3) year term).
INFORMATION/BACKGROUND
The proposed contract for recovery and recycling service is at no charge to the City, and if assets have a
fair market value, Global Asset will provide payment to the City. Many municipalities in the metroplex
use Global Asset for this service like the City of Garland, City of Irving, Denton ISD, Town of Little Elm,
City of Allen, City of Murphy, and City of Farmers Branch.
Currently, retired technology assets are auctioned off by the Procurement Department through the
Warehouse once they have received a certain amount of assets. Preparing for an auction uses time and
employee resources and does not produce the return on investment desired by the City. Global Asset will
provide the pickup and transportation of the retired assets and will issue certificates of data destruction
and disposition for asset management recording keeping purposes.
Examples of retired technology assets:
• Computers/laptops
• Audiovisual equipment (projectors/stands)
• Fax machines/printers
• Network Equipment
• Any obsolete technical hardware
Pricing obtained through the Buy Board Cooperative Purchasing Network has been competitively bid and
meets the statutory requirements of Texas Local Government Code 271.102.
PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)
On February 1, 2005, Council approved the interlocal agreement with the Buy Board Cooperative
Purchasing Network (Ordinance 2005-034).
