Exhibit 1 - Agenda Information Sheet - Amendment 1 - ParadigmCity of Denton _____________________________________________________________________________________ AGENDA INFORMATION SHEET DEPARTMENT: Procurement ACM: Cassey Ogden DATE: April 18, 2023 SUBJECT Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation, authorizing the approval of a first amendment to a contract between the City of Denton and Paradigm Traffic Systems, Inc., amending the contract approved by City Council on September 1, 2020, in the not-to-exceed amount of $2,250,000.00, said first amendment to continue to provide traffic signals and hardware for the Warehouse Department; providing for the expenditure of funds therefor; and providing an effective date (IFB 7398 – providing for an additional first amendment expenditure amount not-to-exceed $562,500.00, with the total contract amount not-to-exceed $2,812,500.00). STRATEGIC ALIGNMENT This action supports Key Focus Area: Enhance Infrastructure and Mobility. INFORMATION/BACKGROUND Traffic signals and hardware allow for safe vehicle and foot traffic across intersections. These signals also work to flow traffic through the City using LED lights as visual indicators to the end users. Vehicle detection systems and sensors are used to help the signals know when vehicles are present at the intersections. The hardware listed in this contract supports the use of these systems. These traffic signals and hardware are purchased using the Warehouse Capital Funding Account, stocked in the Warehouse, and charged back to the using department on an as-needed basis. Due to increased new intersection construction projects, maintenance of existing intersections, and price increases across the board on signal equipment, the initial spend of the contract was utilized quicker than originally anticipated. The Warehouse is requesting an NTE increase of 25% of the total contract amount to fulfill contract obligations from August 31, 2020, through August 31, 2025, with the vendor and continue to provide materials to the internal departments through the duration of the contract. PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (Council, Boards, Commissions) On September 1, 2020, City Council approved a contract with Paradigm Traffic Systems Inc, in the not-to- exceed amount of $2,250,000 (Ordinance 20-1646). PRINCIPAL PLACE OF BUSINESS Paradigm Traffic Systems, Inc. Arlington, TX ESTIMATED SCHEDULE OF PROJECT This contract expires on September 1, 2025. FISCAL INFORMATION These services will be funded from Warehouse Capital Funding Account and charged back to the using department. Requisitions will be entered on an as-needed basis. The total amended amount of this contract is $2,812,500. The City will only pay for services rendered and is not obligated to pay the full contract amount unless needed.
