SUBJECT
Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation,
rejecting any and all competitive proposals under RFP 8154 for the Emily Fowler Library Remodel for the
Facilities Department; and providing an effective date (RFP 8154).
INFORMATION/BACKGROUND
The Facilities Department solicited proposals for a remodel at the Emily Fowler Library. The Department
budgeted $100,000 for the project. Two proposals were received ranging in cost from $85,000 to $241,884.
After evaluating the proposals, contract negotiations were started with the top-ranked vendor.
During contract negotiations, the top-ranked contractor pulled their Best and Final Offer (BAFO) due to a
discrepancy in the overall pricing submitted and refused to move forward. Of the two proposals submitted,
the second bid was significantly over the approved budget and was considered not to be a viable option.
The project will be re-solicited with an increased budget and additional details in the scope of work to attract
more competitive bids.
In accordance with the Local Government Code 252.043, the City Council may reject any and all bids.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends rejection of all proposals for the Emily Fowler Library Remodel.
