SUBJECT
Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation,
rejecting any and all competitive proposals under CSP 8264 for the Pecan Creek Water Reclamation Plant
Valve and Piping Improvement project for the Water Utilities Department; and providing an effective date
(CSP 8264).
INFORMATION/BACKGROUND
The City of Denton’s Pecan Creek Water Reclamation Plant Valve and Piping Improvement Project was
developed to improve components in the wastewater treatment process. This project encompasses numerous
valves and piping at the wastewater plant. A scope was developed and provided for bidding. A single bid
was submitted at over 75% higher than the opinion of probable construction cost.
Staff intends to reevaluate project details and investigate alternate plans to deliver the planned
improvements at the plant.
In accordance with the Local Government Code 252.043, the City Council may reject any and all bids.
PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)
On August 14, 2023, this item will be presented to the Public Utilities Board (PUB) for consideration.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends rejection of all proposals for CSP 8264 for the Pecan Creek Water Reclamation Plant
Valve and Piping Improvement project for the Water Utilities Department.
