SUBJECT
Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation,
authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract with Model 1 Commercial Vehicles, Inc. dba Creative
Bus Sales, Inc., through the Houston-Galveston Area Council of Governments (H-GAC) Cooperative
Purchasing Program Contract Number BT01-21, for the purchase of four (4) passenger vans for the Parks
and Recreation Department; providing for the expenditure of funds therefor; and providing an effective date
(File 8379 – awarded to Model 1 Commercial Vehicles, Inc. dba Creative Bus Sales, Inc., in the not-to-
exceed amount of $441,122.00).

INFORMATION/BACKGROUND
This is for the purchase of four passenger vans for the Parks Department. These vans are used for after-
school programs and senior center activities. A recent Engage Denton request was sent in by a resident who
needs the provisions for wheelchair-accessible transportation for their child. The purchase of these vans
will also solve that need.
The vans are replacements for four (4) others in the fleet. PR0266, PR1265, PR1279, and PR1280 have all
reached the end of their service life. The funds were made available for replacement in FY22/23.

Pricing obtained through the H-GAC Cooperative Purchasing Network has been competitively bid and
meets the statutory requirements of Texas Local Government Code 271.102.
PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)
On June 6, 1995, City Council approved the interlocal agreement with the H-GAC Cooperative Purchasing
Network (Ordinance 1995-107).
