SUBJECT
Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation,
authorizing the approval of a first amendment to a contract between the City of Denton and Artistic Painting
Company, Inc., amending the contract approved by the City Council on June 7, 2022, in the not-to-exceed
amount of $600,000.00; said first amendment to continue to provide interior and exterior painting services
for the Facilities Management Department; providing for the expenditure of funds therefor; and providing
an effective date (RFP 7952 – providing for an additional first amendment expenditure amount not-to-
exceed $150,000.00, with the total contract amount not-to-exceed $750,000.00).

INFORMATION/BACKGROUND
In June 2022, Artistic Painting Company, Inc. was awarded the contract for interior and exterior painting
services. This included scraping, sanding, caulking, and application of paint and/or stain for all City
departments. A painting contract allows Facilities Management to complete annual preventative
maintenance as well as resolve unplanned issues or damages.
Currently, this contract is reaching the spend that was approved by City Council. To continue contracting
for painting services, Facilities is requesting to add additional funds.
PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)
On June 7, 2022, City Council approved a contract with Artistic Painting Company, Inc., in the not-to-
exceed amount of $600,000 (Ordinance 22-1160).
RECOMMENDATION
Award Amendment No. 1 with Artistic Painting Company, Inc., to continue to provide interior and exterior
painting services for the Facilities Management Department, in a not-to-exceed amount of $150,000, for a
total amended contract amount of $750,000.

ESTIMATED SCHEDULE OF PROJECT
This contract expires on June 7, 2027.
FISCAL INFORMATION
These services will be funded from the Facilities Management Operating budget. Requisitions will be
entered into the Purchasing software system on an as-needed basis. The total amended amount of this
contract is $750,000.
