SUBJECT
Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation,
authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract with Mobotrex, Inc., for the supply of traffic signal
hardware, cabinets, and electronics, Section A – Pelco Mounting Hardware, for the City of Denton
Warehouse; providing for the expenditure of funds therefor; and providing an effective date (IFB 8406 –
awarded to Mobotrex, Inc., for three (3) years, with the option for two (2) additional one (1) year extensions,
in the total five (5) year not-to-exceed amount of $855,000.00).

INFORMATION/BACKGROUND
This Invitation for Bid (IFB) is for the supply of items that are stocked in the Warehouse for ease of
accessibility to be used by the Traffic Department in their daily operations, and for repair and maintenance
of traffic signals. This allows for safe vehicle and foot traffic across intersections. These signals also work
to flow traffic through the City using LED lights as visual indicators to the end users. Materials will be
ordered on an as-needed basis to maintain appropriate stocking levels in the City’s Warehouse.
MoboTrex is being awarded Section A of the IFB for the supply of Pelco hardware. The hardware allows
for multiple configurations for mounting traffic signals. The hardware listed in this contract is necessary to
construct traffic signals.
Based on the estimated annual quantity of the previous contract Bid 7398, it is estimated that the City will
require an average of $160,000 annually to purchase the hardware.

Invitation for Bids was sent to 102 prospective suppliers of this item, including four (4) Denton firms. In
addition, specifications were placed on the Procurement website for prospective suppliers to download, and
advertised in the local newspaper. Four (4) bids meeting specifications were received. The lowest bid for
Section A was received by Mobotrex, Inc.

These items will be funded out of the Warehouse Working Capital account and charged back to the using
department as needed. The budgeted amount for this item is $855,000.
