Exhibit 1 - Agenda Information SheetCity of Denton _____________________________________________________________________________________ AGENDA INFORMATION SHEET DEPARTMENT: Procurement ACM: Cassey Ogden DATE: May 7, 2024 SUBJECT Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation, authorizing the City Manager to execute a Professional Services Agreement with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc., for design services for the US 380/University Drive Street Lighting Improvements for the Capital Projects Department; providing for the expenditure of funds therefor; and providing an effective date (RFQ 7599-018 – Professional Services Agreement for design services awarded to Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc., in the not-to-exceed amount of $1,597,000.00). INFORMATION/BACKGROUND Due to the concerns that City Council and various citizens have expressed regarding the lack of street lighting along US 380/University Drive between I-35E and Mayhill Road, a feasibility and photometric study was conducted in 2018. The study included both street and pedestrian lighting levels throughout the corridor. The project was included in the 2019 Bond Package approved by Voters in November 2019. The US 380/University Drive Street Lighting Improvements project will cover the design of the street lighting improvements along US380/University Drive from IH-35 to Mayhill Road. Work under this agreement consists of project management, data collection, street light modeling, conceptual design, preliminary and final design, bid phase services, construction phase services, topographic survey, and subsurface utility engineering The City’s prequalified list of engineers was evaluated and ranked based on their qualifications, knowledge, and experience in street lighting projects of similar type and magnitude. Staff found Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. to have the most relevant experience and the most qualified firm to perform this work. Request for Qualifications for professional engineering services was solicited using the City’s formal solicitation process. City Council approved a pre-qualified list of engineering firms on May 18, 2021 (Ordinance 21-894). City Hall 215 E. McKinney Street Denton, Texas www.cityofdenton.com PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS) On May 18, 2021, City Council approved RFQ 7599 for a prequalified list of professional engineering firms (Ordinance 21-894). RECOMMENDATION Award a contract with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc., for design services for US 380/University Drive Street Lighting Improvements for the Capital Projects Department, in a not-to-exceed amount of $1,597,000. Fort Worth, TX ESTIMATED SCHEDULE OF PROJECT The engineering/design phase is estimated to be 18 months and construction is estimated to be 12 months. FISCAL INFORMATION These services will be funded from 2019 Bond funds account 250129473.20100.1360. Requisition #164612 has been entered into the Purchasing software system in the amount of $1,597,000. The budgeted amount for this item is $1,597,000.
