SUBJECT
Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation,
rejecting any and all competitive proposals under RFP 8459 for CDL Training; and providing an effective
date (RFP 8459).
INFORMATION/BACKGROUND
A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required for multiple positions to safely and legally operate many
City maintenance vehicles. Departments require the use of CDL’s training vendors for new hires to acquire
their CDL in the first six months of their employment.
The City received two (2) bids with the lowest bid submitted over 73% higher than the current training cost
and a 150% increase in training time. Staff intends to reevaluate the scope and reissue the bid.
In accordance with the Local Government Code 252.043, the City Council may reject any and all bids.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends rejection of all proposals for CDL Training.
