Exhibit 1 - Agenda Information SheetCity of Denton _____________________________________________________________________________________ AGENDA INFORMATION SHEET DEPARTMENT: Procurement ACM: Cassey Ogden DATE: June 18, 2024 SUBJECT Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation, authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract with Bureau Veritas North America, Inc., to provide pool inspections in the City of Denton for the Development Services Department; providing for the expenditure of funds therefor; and providing an effective date (RFP 8527 – awarded to Bureau Veritas North America, Inc., for one (1) year, with the option for four (4) additional one (1) year extensions, in the total five (5) year not-to-exceed amount of $360,000.00). STRATEGIC ALIGNMENT This action supports Key Focus Area: Support Healthy and Safe Communities. INFORMATION/BACKGROUND The City has a Building Safety Department which includes Health and Food Safety. In addition to food service permitting and inspections, this division is responsible for commercial pool inspections to protect the health and safety of pool users, ensure compliance with regulations, and minimize risks for property owners and managers. The team completes approximately 400 commercial pool inspections over three (3) months in the summer, which is 17 percent of the total inspections for the year. The need for pool inspections in the summer reduces the available staff time for the team to get the monthly food establishment inspections completed, as well as all the temporary events inspected. Last year, the City hired a third-party inspector to complete these inspections, allowing the health inspectors to continue focusing time on food establishments. Request for Proposals was sent to 1,201 prospective suppliers of this item, including 95 Denton firms. In addition, specifications were placed on the Procurement website for prospective suppliers to download and advertised in the local newspaper. Two (2) proposals were received and evaluated based on published criteria including delivery, compliance with specifications, probable performance, and price. Based upon this evaluation, Bureau Veritas North America, Inc. was ranked the highest and determined to be the best value for the City.
