for an additional first and second amendment expenditure amount not-to-exceed $3,310,718.75, with the
cumulative total contract amount not-to-exceed $16,553,593.75). The Public Utilities Board recommends

STRATEGIC ALIGNMENT
This action supports Key Focus Area: Support Healthy and Safe Communities.
INFORMATION/BACKGROUND
This request is for additional funding for both the Water Production and Reclamation Department chemical
contract due to the rising cost of chemicals as well as the overall higher water treatment demand. The
departments utilize several chemicals to treat safe water for the City of Denton and surrounding
communities. Each chemical serves a unique purpose and is critical in the function of operations. The
current chemical contracts were established in 2021 and each contract expires at the end of fiscal year 2026.
The additional funding requested by this amendment will ensure an adequate supply of vital chemicals
needed for the proper operation of both water production and the water reclamation plants while the new
solicitation of vendors for chemicals and contract process proceeds during the summer of 2025.
