AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DENTON, A TEXAS HOME-RULE MUNICIPAL
(_'ORPORATION, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT
EXTENSION BETWEEN THE CITY OF DENTON AND U.S. VENTURE, INC. F/K/A
MARTIN EAGLE OIL COMPANY, rNC. THROUGH JUNE 30, 2025, TO CONTINUE TO
PURCHASE MOTOR VEHICLE FUELS FOR USE BY ALL CITY DEPARTMENTS; AND
DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE (FILE 7251 – EXTENDING A CONTRACT WITH U.S.
VENTURE, INC. F/K/A MARTIN EAGLE OIL COMPANY, INC., TO JUNE 30, 2025).
WHEREAS, Ordinance 20-199 authorized a contract to Martin Eagle Oil Company, Inc.
for the purchase of motor vehicle fuels for use by all City departments, which is on file in the office
of the Purchasing Agent; and
WHEREAS, on February 20, 2024, City Council awarded a First Amendment to U.S.
Venture, Inc. f/k/a Martin Eagle Oil Company, Inc. in the amount of $4,000,000.00, to continue to
purchase motor vehicle fuels for use by all City departments; and
WHEREAS, the staff having recommended, and the City Manager having recommended
to the City Council that an extension to the existing purchasing authority approved by Ordinance
20-199 be authorized between the City and U.S. Venture, Inc. f/k/a Martin Eagle Oil Company,
Inc., to expire on June 30, 2025; and
WHEREAS, this procurement was undertaken as part of the City’s governmental function;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the action taken herein is in the public interest;
NOW, THEREFORE,
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DENTON HEREBY ORDAINS:
SECTION 1. The findings and recitations contained in the preamble of this ordinance are
incorporated herein by reference.
SECTION 2. The authority to receive services from U.S. Venture, Inc. f/k/a Martin Eagle
Oil Company, Inc., authorized by Ordinance 20-199, is hereby extended under File 7251 to June
30 2025
SECTION 3. The City Council delegates the authority to the City Manager to take any
actions that may be required or permitted to be performed by the City of Denton under File 7251
to the City Manager or their designee.
SECTION 4: This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage and
approval.
The motion to approve this ordinance was made by Brian Beck and seconded by
Brandon Chase McGee. This ordinance was passed and approved by the following vote [ 7 - 0 ] :
