Exhibit 1 - Agenda Information SheetCity of Denton _____________________________________________________________________________________ AGENDA INFORMATION SHEET DEPARTMENT: Procurement ACM: Christine Taylor DATE: February 18, 2025 SUBJECT Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation, authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract with VirTra, Inc., for the purchase of upgrading the current weapon simulator system for the Police Department, which is the sole provider of this software, in accordance with Texas Local Government Code 252.022, which provides that procurement of commodities and services that are available from one source are exempt from competitive bidding, and if over $50,000, shall be awarded by the governing body; providing for the expenditure of funds therefor; and providing an effective date (File 8667 – awarded to VirTra, Inc., in the three (3) year not-to-exceed amount of $261,225.00). INFORMATION/BACKGROUND The Police Department has used the weapon simulator system since 2014 for decision-making simulation and tactical firearms training for the Police Academy, training, and surrounding law enforcement agencies. The Virtra V-300 simulator system is the higher standard for decision-making simulation and tactical firearms training. Five screens and a 300-degree immersive training environment ensure that time in the simulator translates into real-world survival skills. The simulator system allows the officers to experience an additional level of training that will better prepare them for the real world and potentially violent encounters. It’s critical and essential to upgrade this training system in place with ongoing maintenance from VirTra- certified technicians to keep the system and equipment up-to-date. Requisition #168723 has been entered into the Purchasing software system in the amount of $88,005.84. The budgeted amount for this item is $261,225.
