Exhibit 1 - Agenda Information Sheet Amend 1City of Denton _____________________________________________________________________________________ AGENDA INFORMATION SHEET DEPARTMENT: Procurement ACM: Christine Taylor DATE: August 19, 2025 SUBJECT Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation, authorizing the approval of first amendment between the City of Denton and USIC Locating Services, LLC, amending the contract approved by City Council on July 20, 2021, in the not-to-exceed amount of $4,500,000.00; said first amendment to continue locating and marking all existing and future installed utility lines for Denton Municipal Electric, Technology Services, Water, and Wastewater Departments; providing for the expenditure of funds therefor; and providing an effective date (RFP 7672 – providing for an additional first amendment expenditure amount not-to-exceed $1,125,000.00, with the total contract amount not-to-exceed $5,625,000.00). The Public Utilities Board recommends approval (6 - 0). STRATEGIC ALIGNMENT This action supports Key Focus Area: Enhance Infrastructure and Mobility. INFORMATION/BACKGROUND USIC provides underground locates for DME, Water, Wastewater, and Technology Services. The locates are required by law anytime excavation is conducted. Texas 811 is the statewide program that manages the locate requests and provides the City of Denton with notification. The City is obligated to locate its facilities utilizing city staff or, in this case, a third-party vendor within the required time frame. The substantial construction in and around the city has increased steadily over the four (4) years of the contract. The NTE amendment will provide funds to utilize the last remaining year of the contract. A future RFP will be issued to replace the current contract prior to the depletion of the amended funds. RECOMMENDATION Award Amendment No. 1 with USIC Locating Services, LLC, to continue locating and marking all existing and future installed utility lines for Denton Municipal Electric, Technology Services, Water, and Wastewater Departments, in a not-to-exceed amount of $1,125,000, for a total amended contract amount of $5,625,000. FISCAL INFORMATION These services will be funded from DME, Technology Services, Water, and Wastewater Departments' operations budgets. Requisitions will be entered on an as-needed basis. The total budgeted amount for this item is $5,625,000.
