INTENT AND SCOPE OF WORK
The City of Denton is requesting proposals for advanced cleaning, repair, and inspection of
structural gear, proximity gear, light weight protective gear, structural helmets, structural boots,
and particulate barrier hoods for the Denton Fire Department. City of Denton has 191 active
firefighters. The City anticipates adding future stations and personnel, which will increase these
numbers. The City currently has 358 coats and 352 pairs of pants in bunker gear inventory. Gloves,
hoods, proximity gear, and light weight gear is not currently cleaned or inspected by the City,
however, the City is requesting pricing for these services in the event the City should utilize these
services in the future. Additionally, the City is currently purchasing particulate barrier hoods,
which will require advanced inspection as well.
SCOPE
Contractor shall provide advanced cleaning, repair, and inspection of structural gear, structural
helmets, structural boots, and particulate barrier hoods. In the future, the contractor could be
requested to provide advanced cleaning, repair, and inspection to proximity gear, light weight
protective gear, and gloves for the City of Denton Fire Department. The services are to be
performed in a good and workmanlike manner and shall conform to National Fire Protection
Association (NFPA) 1851: Standard on Selection, Care, and Maintenance of Protective Ensembles
for Structural Fire Fighting and Proximity Fire Fighting. Contractor shall pick up protective gear

annual cleaning and inspection services. For repairs or additional cleaning that may come up in
the course of business, the City requires pick up, repair/cleaning, inspection, and return within 10
business days. Any extraordinary circumstances or exceptions to this would need to be discussed
and confirmed with the designated City of Denton Fire Department Quartermaster prior to pick up
of that equipment. All pick up or delivery charges must be included in the costs for repair. If any
additional shipping charges apply, these must be provided with your bid submittal.
The City representative shall withhold payment of any funds under this contract until cleaned or
repaired equipment has been inspected, accepted, and approved by the designated City of Denton
Fire Department Quartermaster.
