8822 Scope of Work
MULCH COLORANT SPECIFICATIONS
SCOPE OF WORK
INTRODUCTION
Since 2003 the city of Denton Beneficial Reuse Department has provided deco-colored mulches
for sale to the public. To produce our line of deco-colored mulches we blend recycled
hardwoods with a long-lasting and environmentally safe colorant in either brown, or black.
Proponents of our colored mulches appreciate the vibrancy it brings to their landscapes and are
pleased with the ability to choose from the various colors.
For this reason, the City of Denton is soliciting bids to establish an annual contract for the
purchase of colorant to be applied to the various ground wood mulch products in support of
the city’s compost operation.
HISTORICAL DATA
Totals of mulch production were approximately 4500 cubic yards of black mulch, 1700 cubic
yards of brown mulch, for the 23-24 fiscal year. Usage varies based on mulch sales, which are
dependent on numerous factors.
