AGENDA INFORMATION SHEET
DEPARTMENT: Procurement
ACM: Christine Taylor
DATE: January 13, 2026
SUBJECT
Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation,
rejecting any and all competitive proposals under RFP 8879 for DEC Engine Maintenance Spare Parts and
Services for the Denton Energy Center; and providing an effective date (RFP 8879). The Public Utilities
Board will consider this item on Monday, January 12, 2026.
INFORMATION/BACKGROUND
The City of Denton solicited proposals for engine spare parts and services for the 12 Wartsila engines
located at the Denton Energy Center. In efforts to source the services and parts together, it's been found that
the vendors were unable to provide both parts or services as one. The City will go back out for proposals
and separate the request, one for parts and one for services. It is anticipated that this will result in multiple
contracts with the corresponding local equipment representatives. In addition, the City will select a primary
vendor and a secondary vendor for each contract. The secondary vendor will be contacted when the primary
vendor is unable to perform the work needed.
In accordance with the Local Government Code 252.043, the City Council may reject any and all bids.
PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)
On January 12, 2026, this item will be presented to the Public Utilities Board (PUB) for consideration.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends rejection of all proposals for DEC Engine Maintenance Spare Parts and Services for the
Denton Energy Center.
