SUBJECT
Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation,
rejecting any and all competitive proposals under RFP 8927 for Janitorial Services for the Facilities
Management Department; and providing an effective date (RFP 8927).
INFORMATION/BACKGROUND
The Facilities Management Department oversees the Janitorial Services contract for 51 City-owned
facilities. The requested service was to furnish all labor, equipment, vehicles, supervision, and all other
items necessary for the cleaning of City buildings. The submitted bids were significantly higher than the
current contract rates for Janitorial Service. As a result, we will continue utilizing the existing contract until
we reach the not-to-exceed (NTE) amount or the contract expiration date of October 17, 2027, whichever
occurs first.
Staff intends to reopen the solicitation at the time to ensure continued service and competitive pricing.
In accordance with the Local Government Code 252.043, the City Council may reject any and all bids.
PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)
On October 17, 2022, the City Council approved a contract with CTJ Maintenance, Inc. in the not-to-exceed
amount of $5,400,000 (Ordinance 22-2054).
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends rejection of all proposals for Janitorial Services.
