SUBJECT
Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation,
rejecting any and all competitive proposals under RFP 8957 for the Denton Downtown Square Cleaning
Services for the Parks and Recreation Department; and providing an effective date (RFP 8957).
INFORMATION/BACKGROUND
The Parks and Recreation Department oversees the downtown square cleaning contract for the City of
Denton. The requested service was to clean and power wash selected downtown sidewalks and curblines
along the business fronts.
A total of six (6) bids were received, with annual costs ranging from $60,000 to $414,000. The department’s
current budget allocation for this service is $45,000 per year. Given the wide variance in pricing and all
bids exceed the available budget, staff recommends revisiting and refining the scope of work.
Upon completing this review, staff intends to reissue the solicitation to ensure a more competitive and cost-
aligned bidding process.
The Parks and Recreation Department is utilizing an existing City of Denton contractor to maintain service
levels until a revised and competitively bid solicitation can be completed.
In accordance with the Local Government Code 252.043, the City Council may reject any and all bids.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends rejection of all proposals for Denton Downtown Square Cleaning Services for the Parks
and Recreation Department.
