SUBJECT
Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation,
rejecting any and all competitive bids under IFB 8884 for the supply of reinforced concrete pipe,
polypropylene pipe, precast box culverts, and related components for the Drainage Department; and
providing an effective date (IFB 8884). The Public Utilities Board recommends approval (4 - 0).
INFORMATION/BACKGROUND
The City of Denton issued an Invitation for Bid seeking bids for reinforced concrete pipe, polypropylene
pipe and fittings, precast reinforced concrete box culverts, precast safety end treatments, and sloped end
sections to support stormwater and drainage infrastructure projects.
After evaluating the project scope and current operational priorities, staff determined that a different
delivery method would better serve the City’s needs. Staff recommends obtaining the required materials
through the City’s warehouse on an as-needed basis. This item will not be resolicited.
According to Local Government Code 252.043, the City Council may reject any and all bids.
PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)
On April 13, 2026, the Public Utilities Board (PUB) recommended this item to the City Council for
consideration.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends rejection of all bids for the supply of reinforced concrete pipe, polypropylene pipe,
precast box culverts, and related components for the Drainage Department.
