HomeMy WebLinkAbout8884 Scope of Work IFB# 8884 Scope of Work/Technical Specifications Supply of Reinforced Concrete Pipe, Polypropylene Pipe, Polypropylene Fittings, Precast Reinforced Concrete Box Culverts, Precast Safety End Treatments for Reinforced Concrete Pipe and Sloped End Sections for Reinforced Concrete Pipe The scope of work shall be finalized upon the selection of the Firm. The respondents’ submission shall have accurately described your understanding of the objectives and scope of the requested products and services and provided an outline of your process to implement the requirements of the Scope of Work and Services. It is anticipated that the scope of work will include, at a minimum, the following: I. Purpose The City of Denton is providing information that will allow prospective suppliers to prepare submissions to supply reinforced concrete pipe, polypropylene pipe, precast reinforced concrete box culverts, precast safety end treatments for reinforced concrete pipe and sloped end sections for reinforced concrete pipe. The products will either be delivered to the City of Denton Service Center located at 901-A Texas Street, Denton, TX 76209 or they will be delivered to a specific project work site within the City of Denton City Limits as requested on a case-by-case basis. II. Specifications of Products listed in the Pricing Sheet Section A: Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP) Specifications: The stormwater pipe for this bid item shall meet the manufacturing specification ASTM C76 and ASTM 655 for reinforced concrete pipe. The City of Denton would like tongue and groove pipe with joint sealant meeting C990 specifications. The concrete pipe is being bid for Class III, Class IV and Class V. for the unit pipe sizes that will most likely be used. All reinforced concrete pipe shall be designed per AASHTO M170specification. The City of Denton will make the final determination on the material for each project. The unit price shall include the Ram-Nek, approved rubber gasket, or approved joint sealant for joining the pipe sections which shall comply with ASTM C443, ASTM C1619. Section B: Precast Reinforced Concrete Box Culverts Specifications: Box culverts being bid are specified by span x rise. The box culverts being bid for use are standard sizes the City of Denton has used in the past or are expected to be designed on a regular basis. Standard box culverts with greater than 2’ of cover are one unit bid type and those classified as direct drive box culverts with less than 2’ of cover are the other unit bid type. All box culverts shall meet the manufacturing specification ASTM C1433 and design specifications AASTHO M259, and AASTHO M273 for Precast Single and Multi-cell Box Culverts. The unit price shall include the Ram-Nek, approved rubber gasket, or approved joint sealant for joining the pipe sections which shall comply with ASTM C990, ASTM C1619, and ASTM C1677. Section C: Precast Safety End Treatments for Reinforced Concrete Pipe Specifications: The safety end treatment sections for this bid item shall utilize Class “C” concrete as a minimum (3600 psi at 28 days) as described in the City of Denton Technical Specifications section 03 00 00. Steel reinforcement shall be as required by ASTM A615- 16 or ASTM A1064-16. Pricing shall be for one barrel only. NCTCOG 2004 Edition Item 501.6.1 and TXDOT Bridge Standards for Precast Safety End Treatment Type II Cross Drainage (CD) and Precast Safety End Treatment Type II Parallel Drainage (PD) shall be used to form and construct the safety end treatments. Items including the term “CD” indicate cross runner bars are included in the safety end treatment section. Items including the term “PD” indicate parallel runner bars are included in the safety end treatment section. Section D: Sloped End Sections for Reinforced Concrete Pipe Specifications: The pipe sections for this bid item shall meet ASTM C76 manufacturing and AASHSTO LRFD Section 12 design specifications for Reinforced Concrete Pipe and shall either be Class III or Class IV. The cut away portion of the pipe end sections shall be sloped to either 3:1, 4:1 or 6:1. The unit price shall be for the entire sloped end section regardless of the number of joints or segments required to construct the end section. The unit price shall include the Ram-Nek, approved rubber gasket, or approved joint sealant for joining the pipe sections. Section E: Polypropylene Pipe and Fitting Specifications: Pipe shall be joined using a bell & spigot joint meeting the requirements of ASTM F2881 or AASHTO M330. The joint shall be watertight according to the requirements of ASTM D3212. Gaskets shall meet the requirements of ASTM F477. Gasket shall be installed by the pipe manufacturer and covered with a removable, protective wrap to ensure the gasket is free from debris. A joint lubricant available from the manufacturer shall be used on the gasket and bell during assembly. 12- through 60-inch (300 to 1500 mm) diameters shall have an exterior bell wrap installed by the manufacturer. Polypropylene compound for pipe and fitting production shall be impact modified copolymer meeting the material requirements of ASTM F2881, Section 5 and AASHTO M330, Section 6.1. HP Storm pipe (per AASHTO), manufactured in accordance with ASTM F2881 or AASHTO M330. HP Storm pipe shall have a smooth interior and annular exterior corrugations. Fittings shall conform to ASTM F2881 or AASHTO M330. Bell and spigot connections shall utilize a welded or integral bell and valley or inline gaskets meeting the watertight joint performance requirements of ASTM D3212. III. Product Delivery Delivery Method: Products purchased under this agreement shall be shipped by truck to the delivery location specified by the City of Denton. Proposals for rail shipment will not be accepted. All shipments shall be F.O.B. to the destination in Denton, Texas. All pricing shall include all costs to deliver the products as specified F.O.B. destination. Delivery Location: The products will either be delivered to the City of Denton Service Center located at 901-A Texas Street, Denton, TX 76209 or they will be delivered to a specific project work site within the City of Denton City Limits as requested on a case-by-case basis. The City reserves the right to change the exact delivery location in Denton, TX for the products up to the time of arrangement for shipping. No allowance will be made for cost differences resulting from any destination change. Notice: The City will provide minimum 14 calendar days of notice to the supplier prior to the expected product delivery date. Suppliers will deliver products to the specified location within 14 calendar days of the City of Denton purchase order for each expected shipment. Delivery Times: Delivery of products will be accepted by the City of Denton between 7 AM and 4 PM Central Time, Monday through Thursday, excluding holidays. Damaged or Defective Products: Products that are obviously damaged on arrival will be refused. Any necessary action regarding replacement of products delivered in an unacceptable condition shall be the responsibility of the supplier. This includes concealed freight damage as well as items defective from the manufacturer. Upon notice from the City of Denton, the supplier shall take immediate action to replace any products found damaged during shipment. Unloading: The City of Denton will furnish labor and equipment for off-loading of products if necessary.
