HomeMy WebLinkAboutExhibit 1 - Agenda Information SheetCity of Denton _____________________________________________________________________________________ AGENDA INFORMATION SHEET DEPARTMENT: Procurement ACM: Christine Taylor DATE: June 16, 2026 SUBJECT Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation, authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract with Mario Sinacola & Sons Excavating, Inc., for the construction of the Robson Ranch Roadway Expansion Project for the Capital Projects Department; providing for the expenditure of funds therefor; and providing an effective date (IFB 8916 – awarded to Mario Sinacola & Sons Excavating, Inc., in the not-to-exceed amount of $3,290,980.72). STRATEGIC ALIGNMENT This action supports Key Focus Area: Enhance Infrastructure and Mobility. INFORMATION/BACKGROUND The Robson Ranch Roadway Expansion Project includes expanding Robson Ranch Road at Gibbs Road/Ed Robson Boulevard from four (4) lanes to five (5), while adding turn lanes and a deceleration lane for the Robson Ranch community entrance. Additional improvements will be made to the section of Robson Ranch Road from Sage Hawk to I-35 West, converting the area from a four-lane roadway to a four (4) lane roadway with turn lanes. Denton County and the City of Denton entered into an Interlocal Cooperation Agreement (ICA), approved by City Council on March 3, 2026, to deliver roadway and additional signal improvements in the area. Under the agreement, Denton County provided the completed design and up to $5.8 million in construction project funding, with City staff managing project delivery. The construction of the Robson Ranch Road Expansion Project has a total estimated cost of $3,290,980.72. This estimate includes a $3,134,267.35 total base bid amount and a contingency of $156,713.37. A contingency allowance, if any, is for the sole use of the City and will be subject to written authorization by the City’s Project Manager and Senior Project Manager. In addition, specifications were placed on the Procurement website for prospective suppliers to download and advertise City Hall 215 E. McKinney Street Denton, Texas www.cityofdenton.com in the local newspaper. Thirteen (13) bids meeting specifications were received. The lowest bid was received by Mario Sinacola & Sons Excavating, Inc. RECOMMENDATION Award a contract with Mario Sinacola & Sons Excavating, Inc., for the construction of the Robson Ranch Roadway Expansion Project for the Capital Projects Department, in a not-to-exceed amount of $3,290,980.72. FISCAL INFORMATION This project will be funded by Transportation Services account 350589427 and is reimbursable through Denton County. Requisition #175388 has been entered into the Purchasing software system in the amount of $3,134,267.35. The budgeted amount for this item is $3,290,980.72.
