AGENDA INFORMATION SHEET
DEPARTMENT: Procurement
ACM: Christine Taylor
DATE: September 15, 2026
SUBJECT
Consider adoption of an ordinance of the City of Denton, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation,
rejecting any and all competitive proposals under RFP 8986 for the acquisition, maintenance, and repairs
of animal transport bodies and chassis for the Fleet Services Department; and providing an effective date
(RFP 8986).
INFORMATION/BACKGROUND
Fleet Services previously issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to establish a contract for the acquisition,
maintenance, and repair of animal transport bodies and chassis utilized by the Animal Services Department.
The proposed contract was intended to replace existing transport units, support future fleet additions, and
provide ongoing maintenance and repair services.
During the solicitation process, staff evaluated the proposals received and determined that the responding
vendors could not fully meet the City’s operational requirements and specifications. As a result, the
solicitation did not produce a proposal that adequately satisfied the City’s needs.
Given that the proposals received do not meet the City’s requirements, Fleet Services recommends rejecting
all proposals. The City will procure the required chassis through a Texas-based vendor and will acquire the
animal transport bodies through the City’s HUB and Quote procurement process. This approach ensures
the City obtains the required equipment in a timely manner while remaining compliant with the City’s
procurement requirements.
In accordance with the Local Government Code 252.043, the City Council may reject any and all bids.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends rejection of all proposals for acquisition, maintenance, and repairs of animal transport
bodies and chassis for the Fleet Services Department.
