INFORMATION/BACKGROUND
The North Lakes Driving Range has 32 lighted tee boxes, a chipping green, and a putting green, providing
public access and the ability to host lessons, classes, and camps. Currently, the Parks and Recreation
Department (PARD) coordinates operations of the North Lakes Driving Range but contracts programming
to certified golf professionals. This Request for Proposal (RFP) is for services to provide golf camps,
classes, lessons, private lessons, and other golf programs. The utilization of contracted golf professionals is
crucial to operations at the North Lakes Driving Range. The golf professionals bring expertise to teaching
the sport that PARD staff would not be able to replicate. The proposed contractor, Joel Van Der Sloot, has
been a teaching professional for over 30 years. He specializes in individual instruction and the development
of advanced teaching techniques. Joel is a certified Professional Golf Association Teaching Professional.
This partnership enables the City to:
• Increase the variety and frequency of programs offered.
• Improve participant experience through professionally managed instruction and leagues.
• Ensure long-term program sustainability as community interest continues to grow.
By contracting with Golfers Academy, the City of Denton can deliver a higher-quality recreation experience
while maintaining accessibility and meeting the needs of residents across all skill levels.
